Friday Five

1. What is with this weather? It's as if mother nature is taking a mega temper tantrum. Back East and in the midwest they've had extreme cold, snow while here in California it's dry. Mega dry. Yesterday, on way to son's student center in Santa Ana, you could see orange/grey smoke from LA fires blanketing the sky. The Santa Anas are fierce. Plus there is little if any humidity which is the perfect recipe for fires. Scary. This is the worse drought in reported Californian history! Hope we get some relieve soon by way of snow in the Sierra Nevada mountains and some rain.

2. Totally addicted to Richelle Mead's YA series VAMPIRE ACADEMY.

This week I've read so far:

Rose is one kickass heroine who's sole purpose is to guard Moroi(which are vamps). Problem is she loves Dimitri, a guardian who will be her friend Lissa's future guardian.

3.Book #3

This one has a bittersweet cliff hanging ending which meant I had to go and get...

Book #4 of course!

Why the appeal of this series? Hands down it has to be the amazing voice. Love it!

4. Also very excited to hear latest news from the creator of The Vampire Diaries. You all know that the author was 'fired' from Alloy(the TV series) because they didn't agree with what she wanted to do with the Damon/Elena relationship. **Huge mistake if you ask me as I've been very disappointed in the TV series so far. Double sigh.

Anyway, L.J. Smith is going to release her own book on Amazon! Thanks Heidi Kling for sharing this on FB!

Here's the blurb:

Evensong: Paradise Lost

This fanfic is based on The Vampire Diaries book series and takes place after the volume Midnight.
Damon is back and enjoying his vampire existence to its fullest. Elena, Bonnie and their friends are in their third week at Dalcrest College, ordinary students aware of an extraordinary world that verges on their own campus.
Stefan is scarcely aware that he is living in a fragile paradise with Elena as his devoted girl . . . until one night it all shatters. He wakes from a dream to find Elena limp and white in his arms and rushes her to the hospital for a massive transfusion,
Elena survives, but Stefan decides that there is only way that she will ever truly be safe is without him. To make his exit complete, Stefan removes himself from the memories of Elena, her friends, and all of Fell’s Church.
Can true love ever really be forgotten? Will Damon finally have Elena by his side as his Princess of Darkness? The story begins in Evensong: Paradise Lost.

5. Also excited to find that Scholastic Teen reading club had this book available in paperback:

Loved this author's voice too! Her historical retellings of The Tudors is nothing short than amazing! Can't wait to read this one too!

**Guilty pleasure:

I'm just hoping I don't get sick so I won't miss this one OCCRWA conference this Saturday:

Angela James, editor at Carina, will speaking on self-editing workshop!

I love The Vampire Diaries TV show but must admit that they are different than the books. I might have to check out this new book. But maybe not since I have all the other books and this is fanfic which means it will be like the TV show...so torn. LOL But in a good way. Thanks for the update on TVD.

I'm such a sucker for this series that I know I'll go and read this book even if it is fanfic. One big difference has to be that this will be written by the real author who started the whole thing. Yes, interesting how the TV series has spinned off. So far this season I've been very disappointed.
